add on electrionics

Looking for information to tie in a permanent add on with 7.5 amp max draw, 4 amp nominal that will turn off with the ignition in the vehicle. Any help would be appriciated.

I don't have that info but I can give a word of warning. Make DARN sure what you tie in to on theses cars. The CAN line is fiber optic and if that is disturbed the car is in a lot of trouble. If it was me I would not add nothing on to this car that was not BMW approved.

Worked closely with dealer techs but was using all available resources. Ended up using a stand alone switch on it. Came out very nice, when it went into the dealer everyone was oh and ah over it. If any one knows anything else on it still going to be working on more in the future so all info is appreciated. Thanks.

I had an audio shop install an mp3 input to the Logic 7 audio system that went into the antenna. This cost about $450. Not very satisfactory. The system requires a switch that dumbs down the signal from the antenna and requires a high volume setting on both the mp3 player and the radio.
I use WMA lossless audio files, very high quality files and they should sound better than this.

Just a warning to any user trying to update the early E65/66 series that this is not the way to go.

A better way to go would be to replace the in dash single CD player with one that has an mp3 input.
I am told there is no such device that will fit in this opening.
