Throttle Body Adaptation Needed or Not

I need to remove the throttle body on my 2006 BMW X3 (E83) as part of a repair of the crankcase ventilation system. The repair involves disconnecting the battery and the engine wiring harness and removing the 4 fasteners that attach the throttle body to the intake manifold. The Bentley Repair Manual states that the after the installation process the adaption needs to be reset. Does this apply if I am not planning to replace the throttle body itself?

Adaptation may only be leaving the key on for 30 seconds, turning off for another 30.
