Hi Everyone, New to the forum. My Passat 4Motion wagon went haywire yesterday. Started it and the dash info display was fading in and out. Then it started to read "STOP Brake Fault" so I shut the engine off and tried to restart. Would turn over the starter but never fire up so I left it as I had to go into town. 4 hours later came home and tried it and the car fired up perfectly, strange but good. Shut it off and restarted, ran for about 30 seconds then "STOP Brake Fault" appeared and then the engine started stumbling all over itself until it just died. Once again, starter would turn engine over but no fire. Started to check all fuses and check under hood for loose connectors-found nothing wrong. I did notice when I turn on the key that the small red brake pedal light by the shifter was no longer illuminating and after the normal chimes from the dash board then I would get 3 shrill beeps from the dash, never heard that before.
I just ordered the VCDS from Ross Tech so it will be 2 more days before I can read codes and whatnot.
Anyhow, I am now at the point where the car won't even turn over now. Good juice at battery (12.6vdc) but no starter engaging now. Didn't burn it up either as I never stayed on the starter long enuff for that to be an issue. I unplugged the ABS module and plugged it back in. I also left the battery disconnected for about 2-3 minutes but will leave it off for about 30 minutes today to see what that will do. I think it could be the immobilizer?? but not sure. Pulled instrument cluster to check connections there but all good too. Maybe wiring to trans?? No red brake light at shifter. OH, before it went all the way bad that light for a while was flashing rapidly a few times I tried to start the car but now no light at all. Seems like a cascading problem but not sure where to start. Any tips to try before the VCDS gets here would be greatly appreciated.

I used my indoor/outdoor vacuum to pump out as much water as possible. When I thought the area was thoroughly dried out I took the car to my local Pay Someone To Do Your Homework Volkswagen certified mechanic for further investigation. He didn't take long to determine that drainage holes on both sides under the hood were clogged.
