Getting ready to replace the front struts, so decided to jack the car and inspect the strut-to-knuckle bolts in case I need to order replacements in advance. But to my surprise the passenger side wheel stayed on the ground well past the point it usually lifts off. Kept jacking and finally it did raise the tire enough to pull it from the hub.
Evidently whatever limits the lower travel of the spring is broken. I am guessing it is a stop of some sort inside the shock absorber.
This is my first strut job, so any tips on how to deal with this will be much appreciated.
