Hi all
I am in the middle of putting an putting ABF engine from a '97 mk3 gti in my Mk1 gti. The enging came with the ecu, reader box and key. I can't use the antenna and key in the traditional sense as I can't fit the antenna by the key barrel, so I would just be taping the key to the antenna and tucking it under the dash somewhere. I have a cat 1 system fitted anyway.

I have been told that I can disable the vw immob using vagcom. Is this correct. If so, can anyone give me some tips please?
Many thanks
BobD

I'm a little confused... something isn't lining up... not for me anyways???

What is a reader box? This generation of doesn't have an immobilzer. They have an alarm, but they are isolated from the ECU, and not connected to the car through VAGCOM (can-bus system)

The next generation of Jetta/golfs have an immobolizer.

Can you confirm what you have... engine wise & year.
