I pulled off the drive shaft on my R32 to replace the CV boot and bearing. However the gasket was on the side of the CV joint closest to the haldex where as the diagram shows the gasket on the other side of the CV joint.

11 in this diagram is the gasket I'm referring too. Any ideas why this differs?

The CV can be installed in either direction, but it only has a cut-out for a gasket on one side of the joint. The other side of the joint is flat, so it does not need a gasket.

I've not had one of these setups apart, so that's just my guess.
