Hi, I'm going to be replacing the valve cover gasket, cam tensioner gasket (+ half moon seal) and the cam plug.

I've read that we would not use sealant on:

  • VC gasket
  • Cam end plug (hockey puck)
  • Cam tensioner half moon

But what about the cam tensioner gasket? There's nothing in my Bentley but I read the Haynes manual calls for some on this gasket. Can anyone confirm or deny all of the above please? I was thinking about just looking at what might "appear" to have sealant on it as I take them out. But it could be that someone did that wrong in the past... It has 135km on it so could be that this is the first time they've been replaced.

Use sealant. Discreetly.
Been and done all of the above.
