I am getting ready to do a tiptronic to 6 speed swap on my 2002 18tq a4 I have answers to all my questions but this one. Everywhere I have looked I hear that the 2002 a4 does not have a VSS. I have visually inspected that I do have one on my car. My question is, can the vss be deleated in favor of data from the ABS module? My understanding is that the VSS supplies the speedo data to the cluster along with volume control to the radio. Can the ECU be told to read from the ABS module? Do I need to run a wire to the cluster for that? If so, would it go to pin 5 replacing the VSS wire? Thanks!

Yes, there is a VSS terminal in the ABS connector that is unused. A wire must be run from that terminal to the connection station at the left kick panel, then a wire run up to the instrument cluster. See wiring diagrams.
