I have had a succession of AC problems, which has lead me to replace the evaporator, expansion valve and LP hose and meant the cooling was out of action for over a year. It is finally back together and charged to the right pressure. The compressor clutch would not engage but would when I jumped out contacts on the above referenced switch. So I bought and fitted a new switch; same problem. I assume that the switch is not lying and since the LP contact controls the clutch (I am told) then the pressure must be low.
The system shows the right pressure and seems to have held it for a week now.
What am I missing? What are the risks if I permanently jump the pressure switch contact.
