While troubleshooting a problem with my '82 911SC I decided to check the function of my throttle position switch as described in my Bentley manual p. 240-29 (my copy published in 2000). The manual states that when connecting an ohmmeter between terminals 3 and 18 of the switch, the switch should be open from 35 degrees to full throttle. However, when I performed the test, I got the exact opposite result (switch closed between terminal 3 and 18 from 35 degrees to full throttle).
I then removed the switch and opened it to physically look at the contacts. Looking at the physical construction of the inside of the switch, and comparing it to the wiring diagram, I am thinking that the manual must be wrong, and that the switch should actually be closed between terminals 3 and 18 at full throttle, and that mine is working correctly.
Can anyone verify whether the manual is error in this case or not? Thanks.
