I am trying to remove the upper section of steering column of 02 BMW M3, and according to Bentley manual, I have to drill out one rivet and remove three bolts, which I did ( wiring has been disconnected already), and then slide upper section up and it should be free. However when I tried to slide it up it bumps against something in the tubular housing and will not slide free. Steering shaft is two parts or one? I can see it goes to floor of car, then into tubular steering column housing, but I can't see where it bumps since it seems to be inside housing, and repair manual shows steering column as one part. Please help
Charlie
