Hi could anyone advise regarding a fault with my A4.

The alarm has been going off, the rear doors remain shut (despite trying to open them from the inside and out), Interior lights are on and off and central locking has a mind of its own. These are just some of the faults which are all intermittent.

I have done some reading up and it seems that the blame points to Central Convenience Unit. So I stripped the interior passenger area to expose the module and to my shock it seems to be dry as the Sahara. The surround wires are also dry, I also inspected the module for dry-joints and found it to be spot-on.

Can anyone one advise where the fault may lie?

Hi Grover2000,

It seems to me that these modules should not be having the convulsions that they are having. I would start by asking what is the car doing when you do a scan? Are you scanning before you drive the car or in between trips? My first suggestion would be to check the battery. Have the battery load tested. There is a lot that is going on that would be indicative of a weak battery. The modules need a consistantly reliable power source to work normally - even if the car were to sit for a week or two or three. Also, if the car does sit for long periods, a float charger would greatly extend the life of the battery among other positive factors.
