i need a support,i have A4 the engine type is BKE and i have problem with the temperature in the dashboard i think is not correct.when the engine have 90 celcium the dashboard shows 70 celcium...the problem is from the temperature sensor or the dashboard?thanx
Replacing the temperature sensor in the engine bay might be a quick & cheap item to start with.
If you have access to VCDS (Vag-Com), then running an instrument cluster "output test / self test", will let you verify needle operation (will swing from cold to hot, and will stay in the middle during the test... if I remember correctly).
Don't have any info on the BKE engine, so I don't know where the temp sensor would be in the engine bay.
Your engine has a dual temp sender attached on top of multi-hose coolant fitting on the front of the engine, up above the oil cooler/filter housing.
There are 2 separate sensors in it, one sends signal to the ECM for engine management purposes and the other sends a temp signal to the dash gauge. The gauges rarely fail, but these dual sensors fail on a regular basis.
