My wifes '01 Jetta with 1.8T and 5 speed trans has a hard time going into reverse on occassion. It will usually go, but she jams it in. Sounds as if the clutch is not fully disengaging. I had this happen to me once. I stepped on the clutch and it went to the floor with little resistance and wouldn't shift. I released the clutch and stepped on it again and all worked fine. She claims the clutch seems fine when it wont shift for her. This only happens a couple times a week with her, and only in reverse, hot or cold. The car has 95k miles and has never had the clutch or slave cylinder serviced. Any help?
