1996 Audo A4 6 cyl non quatro


New to Audi decided to fix some minor issues . I got lucky and a heat/climate control problem solved itself when I removed the center console as well as the lower dashboard. But now I no longer have any instrument panel dashboard and rear license plate lights. There's no voltage present at fuses 3 and 4 what should i look for? are there any connectors I might have disconnected in error or maybe a solenoid someplace. I know you fix one thing another one breaks it's all in good fun..... Thanks for your replies

Fuse 3 & 4 get power from the grey wire on the light switch... the ignition switch feeds the light switch.

The load reduction relay gets power from the same source (ignition switch). If your wipers & fresh air blower work, then the feed from the ignition switch to the light switch "should" be ok.

Check for power at the grey wire on the light switch.

By light switch you mean the headlight switch on the steering wheel? I just disassembled it cleaned and lubed it with electrical grease ( didnt have headlights before) the switch works now or does it? Thanks for your reply Peter

Sorry about the late reply... I had taken a quick look at the wiring diagram yesterday, and that's where it said light switch, which I also assume to be the switch on the column.

The Electronic eBahn version of the Bentley manual can be downloaded & paid for via a couple of links... if you need the wiring diagrams or further info quickly.
