P0171 - P0174 - P0300

Hello, i get these codes when I scan the ECU

171 & 174 right and left bank low density
300 random misfires

the only two things i can think of which changed recently in the car configuration are that I added a small quantity of fuel additive (Lucas) to clean the injectors and fuel system, or there is an issue with the APR ECU upgrade stage 1 (318hp chipped with 93 octane). However I get the codes when the program is running stock mode...

I also replaced the sparkplugs with NGK but i don't this has anything to do with 171 and 174

any clues?

Thanks in advance!
Ginga

Based on VAG's history, I'd guess its a bad MAF sensor. I've replaced a few on 2.7 engines. It has to be something that affects both sides of the engine, so a vacuum leak isn't likely but it could be a bad connection on the inlet hose between the maf and the throttle. For it to be a vac leak it would need to be a large one, like from the brake booster hose. If the car is running too lean that can also be the cause of your misfire code. With a generic level scanner its going to be hard to be certain. Indy shop in your area? They may have a smoke machine so they can check for leaks too.

i have just ordered a vag-com hex-can from RossTech. SHould get it on Monday. In the meantime I got a used MAF from a scraped 2002 allroad at a scrapyard (hit in the rear so the front + engine was working good). I got it really cheap so I'l swap the MAF this weekend and see if that solves my problem. I checked hoses, replaced some clamps, and also replugged the small hose going into the left turbo that was disconnected somehow after i replaced the left engine mount. Not sure if this has done anything yet since the MIL is still on (and will be for a few more cycles). I dont want to clear the codes yet since if what i have done so far did not do anything then when i get the vag-com interface i'll be able to post more details here. Cheers,

i have not replaced the MAF yet but based on your experience does this point to a MAF issue?
