SKC/PIN for Immob

Took my old cluster and new "used" cluster in to the Dealer today to get the SKC generated by the Dealer, was told by Service manager and Tech, that the SKC was no longer being used, they had to plug the car in directly and program the immobilzer for the car.... anyone with VAG-com with out this key now is hosed????

That's been going on for a few years now. I think there are some workarounds out there for the brave and adventurous, but no way to know if it will work until you try. Not cost effective unless you need to do immo work on a bunch of cars.

At least it isn't a benz, they have been denying part sales unless they do the install on items considered part of the security system.
