my tranny went out on my 03 24v vr6. so i put in 02M 6speed tranny in it. drives well and everything. i couldnt find the main wiring harness so i left the auto on in.. here is the problem im having and need your help. my speed sensor is not pluged in and so isnt my reverse sensor.
and i cant find the color codes either. can any one help me out and tell me what color is the wires on the auto tranny harness. so i can cut em and run a seperate wiring straight to my 2 sensors. so they work. i already have the 3 pin plug that goes into the speed sensor on the tranny. on the plug the pins are labelled as 1,2,3.

so anyone please help.. and tell me what color are the wire.

i also looked underneath the care. i saw 2 big plugs.. one was a round shape with i think more than 18 or 22 holess(not exact on the no.. but alot) and the other i belive was a rectangular or square shape with 8 to 12 pin/hole..

so guys please help thanks.

The vehicle speed sensor uses the Black/white and White/black wires in pins 5 and 6 in the round 20 pin transmission connector. These are connected to pins 36 and 35 at the 68 pin TCM connector. The reverse function is handled by the multi function transmission range switch on the top of the tranny (8 pin connector). The signals to the TCM use pins 2,4,5 and 7, but I'll have to look at that some more to figure it out the state that indicates Reverse.

ok this is what i think.. i might be wrong.. but let me kno what do you think..

my tcm is still connected to the cluster and to the tranny wire harness. from what you told me.. can i cut wire at pin 5 and 6 and take it straight to the speed sensor. also i have 3 pin on the plug that connects to my sensor.. do i need 3 pins or only 2. in this case wires coming from pin 5 and 6. if yes.. which is the pin wire goes to which pin hole on the plug. for eg. (pin 5 - pin 1 on the plug/pin 6 - pin 2 or 3 on the plug.) i might be totally wrong. but it wont hurt thinking.

btw thanks alot dave..

dave i need a lil advice. there are 2 wires for speedo(pin 5 and 6). and on the plug on the sensor has 3 pin. they are labelled as (pin1= +) (pin2= A) (pin3= -) do i wire pin 5 to pin 1 and pin 6 to pin 3 and leave the pin2 alone which is A. is that correct

Unfortunately I don't have the wiring diagram for your 6sp trtanny, or your 2003 Vr6 - only the "09A". I'm sure you're not the only one who's swapped out the 09A craptronic for the 6 spd, and suspect you will be able to find someone who's figured it out. I wanted to do this on my wifes VR6, but she dosn't drive standard :( so I had to get the 09A rebuilt. Sorry I couldn't have helped more. You may want to post the question on the vwvortex forum as well. Good luck!
