CV Drive Axle installation to Drive Flange (wheel hub)

I'm in the midst of replacing rear wheel bearings on my 2002 E53 3.0i.
I've managed to R&R the wheel bearing and drive flange (wheel hub), but I'm having difficulty getting the CV drive axle to seat within the hub flange.
There's about 1/2" the drive axle needs to seat before I can get the M27 (36mm) nut threaded onto it.
Any advice? The Bentley manual didn't really offer any input (all it says is "installation is reverse of removal").
Thanks
Kevin

Kevin, the CV axle and hub splines are a pretty tight fit. Make sure you deburr both with fine emery paper, then use a thin coat of oil or anti-seize paste to help assembly. You may even need to tap the axle in gently using a plastic hammer. It really is just a matter of wiggling and then persuading the parts to go together.
