I recently replaced the viscous fan clutch on my A as i was told this would be the most likely suspect for the vehicle overheating.

-it still overheats, any advice on the next step would
be appreciated
-the over heating is inconsistent and is actually worse
when the a/c is off
-any suggestions??

A defect fan clutch (not engaging) would cause overheating mainly in stop-and-go traffic or engine idling (vehicle stopped) and less likely during highway driving.

With the A/C on, the auxiliary fan is engaged, which will pull additional air through the radiator.

Under what conditions is the engine overheating?
