Loss of Power on 93 5 Speed

I have a 93 Euro and it starts and idles normally but when I hit the accelerator it seems to be struggling or skipping and it takes a bit longer to find it's groove and get up to speed. At speed (55-60mph) there seems to be a stutter in the power supply. There is a noticeable loss of power, seems like the timing may be off. How can this be checked? So far it has not stalled or even felt like it may stall. Any help appreciated.

Unrelated but curious....Any gossip on a return to the eurovan by VW. The Chrysler disguised van just doesn't cut it.
Thanks-

Sounds like ignition misfire... start with tune-up basics.

Spark plugs, ignition wires, cap & rotor.

Move radiator into "service position" for better access.

This seems to be a big problem in many forums. Someone drops by with his problems and the lot cracks their brains for a solution.
His car is fixed and we get no feedback. We all learn from the questions and solutions. Not very much without feedback.

I don't have much in the way of feedback regarding the power issue as I have traded the '93 in for a '99. The trip to pick up the '99 in the '93 was the best trip, power wise in months. I did rotate the distributor slightly and it made a small difference. Half way to my destination on the drop off day the power returned to normal. I hesitated and moved on to the '99. I do appreciate all the advice and hints and tips. I am somewhat mechanically inclined and do try and respond with feed back....Working in the restaurant biz with a new born at home doesn't leave a lot of time for follow up. I will try and do better with following up.
Thanks again....
