540i auto transmission

I would like to find out if the transmisions in the 535i and the 540i work togerther if at all one has to change an auto transmission as i have some spares on the 535i and do not want to sell it off in case i need it or the 540i

What year /market is your 535i? What year is the 540i. Two trans on the 540s. Try searching on www.realoem.com for application information. As of 01/97 the 540i went to the smaller A5s 440Z (5Hp-24) vs. the earlier and larger 5hp-30.

Sorry charlie, the 540i is a 1994 model and the 535i is 1990

535i is a four speed. 540i is a very different five speed.
