Is there a section in the Bentley New Beetle repair manual that addresses fixing the blend door? Mine is stuck in the heat position according to the local dealer.

TSB 85 07 01 There is a bushing the blend door lever attaches to that breaks. It is now available as a repair kit(instead of the entire air box assembly) You have to work upside down over the tunnel of the car and try to get the parts lined up by feel/guess/mirrors, but it beats pulling the dash out.

The foam has come off the blend door in my '98 and I would like to fix it; I have the '98 to '09 DVD and I understand that the dash will have to come apart, but I cannot determine where I should start. So if someone could tell me I could look the subsequent steps in my Bentley DVD. Seeing how I will have it apart, I will be changing the snap bushings as well.

Thanks! ... I think I'll start with instrument panel and remove the instrument panel cross member. :)

Well my sons '99 is doing the same thing, so I get to take apart another dash ... :) This time I will be taking the heater housing out, so I can replace the foam. Lesson learned from the first time. Does anyone have any suggestions on what type of foam insulation to use?
