Hi there, did not catch your name, post the trouble codes please, and we go from there, It's very rare that knock sensor failed on VW vehicle but everything is possible. If you smell a "High Fuel" at the first start up, something is not right, what scan tool are you using? how the vehicle running after start up? miss? fluctuation? or?
Get us little more info. Good luck.

Hello Good Day

Thanks for your reply

at first I used the vag com system and it came up with a misfire on #1 and a knock sensor and a radio code.. then I used a snap on modis scanner and it gave me a knock sensor code only I cleared the code and it has not appeared back. I know that touaregs have had coil issues I have not replaced the coils. I have taken the plugs out they are fine. it has 45,000 miles on it.. a while back the dealer re flashed the car and it ran like new for about a week and then went back to the same driveability problem like hesitation, back fire on cold starts and lean fuel smell when cold. I am a tech just trying to get some more input on my own car it would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks

James
