I have a 2005 MC with the CVT and I had it in the shop over the power steering pump when the tech noticed I have a slight leak in the rear main seal. They checked the fluid and now say that they found excessive metal shavings, so now they are suggesting replacement of the entire trans. It hasn't failed yet, but if I just have them replace the rear main seal, they won't warranty the repair in light of the metal shavings. I'd like to know if anyone has repaired a CVT and if so, what manual did you use and where did you get the parts? Over $8000 to have the trans replaced is too much to bear. Thanks.

MINI suggests replacing transmission as a unit when it fails.

I found no listing of seperate parts for the CVT transmission. Your best bet is to conact a transmission rebuilder.

BMW/MINI remove and send the transmissions to a rebuilder to go through, you can purchase the transmissions from the same supplier (PUNCHPOWERTRAIN.COM) through a local supplier. I have spoken with PUNCH and they won't give out any manuals or technical information. My 2005 CVT has a bad carrier bearing and I want to do the repair myself but want a manual for the breakdown. Bentley will help you get the trans out but, thats as far as it goes. I have replaced the main bearing and done 2 services on my trans. There are parts available but no literature for do it yourselfers. I have been rebuilding transmissions for over 30 years don't see a problem with this CVT. I want to make sure when I split the case, nothing comes falling out.

This site has the friction sets, pulleys, steel belt, bearings.....
Below is the link for the rebuild kit, no hard parts

Below is the link to the rebuilt valve body, 645 US Dollars, a new one is 1250 US Dollars
