I have a 2001 Z3 3.0, I just used the Peake R5/fcx tool. I received a error message of FA, which means "Functional check purge Valve" does anyone know what this means? I look through my Bentley Service Manual but could not find anything

That would be the purge valve near/under the intake manifold area. Small electric valve with vacuum hoses connected. Try clearing faults and see if it comes back. Did this turn your check engine light on?

Hi there,
Like the Charlie said cancel the code, purge valve failure
did not occurred so often in order to turn the check engine light on, and it may be caused by various reason, at this time I would disregard any further investigation on this issue.
By the way, nice looking car.

Thanks for the reply, A few questions, when you say cancel the code, do you mean in my Peake tool, or some place else, and if someplace else, where? The second question if there is a problem with the purge valve could it cause any other major problems, or is this something I can live with? I have been trying to locate the valve, I have looked through my Bentley service manual, with no luck. I know its near the intake manifold, but still can't seem to find it. Do you happen to know where they attached it?
