I have a 2001 BMW 530i.I notice a smell like oil had leaked on the exhaust,I could see smoke coming from the back of the motor on the passenger side where the exhaust is.I took my car to the dealer and they replaced the valve cover gasket, this was back in Dec.2008.On feb.2009 i started to smell the same smell again took it back to the dealer and they couldn't fine any sign of a leak they said the motor was bone dry.I can still smell the odor for a few minutes after the car is park.Has anyone have this problem and if so how did you solve it.

For tracking down *mystery* leaks I just use UV Dye and UV light.
A couple of ounces in the oil..
Bring the engine to operating temp..
Turn out the lights and hit it with the UV light..
Works everytime.
