we bought a new Rabbit in the summer of 2007 , in the cold season the shifting from the 1st gear to the 2nd is pretty rough when the engine is cold , i went to the dealer and they said that its nothing wrong with it , lately is doing that even when is not that cold , just wandering if anybody had the same problem , any solutions?

If it a 6 speed automatic (09G) transmission its highly likely that what you are experiencing is a faulty valve body. We have had a few of them through the shop recently. There is a VW tsb on it as well.
