would a weak valve spring cause a valve to tap?

not likely-but the valves need to be adjusted EVERY 15K. if they get loose or are adjusted too loose, the get noisy. good luck, chuck.

unless you're talking maybe 100 degree swing in ambient temp, i wouldn't think the cold weather would change the adjustment radically. but, adjust them cold. the cold weather might cause a valve to stick in the guide, especially if oil changes were lax. a buddy of mine at another shop just went through this with an e24 that had been sitting for a while. couple of years, i think. 3 valves were sticking open and that makes a good noise. good luck, chuck.

does this have anything to do with the jumped timing belt??

if the cam timing is off and a valve is hitting a piston it will give a sound like the valve is loose.

It is very to find svchost.exe virus when your system working not well. Just search svchost for windows or windows 10.
