I replaced the automatic transmission on my 1990 audi V8 quattro. and now the I do not have spark. I believe it is the ignition reference sender or engine speed sensor. I either need a VAG 1551 or for some one to walk me through the process to retrieve engine codes to determine what the fault might be. Thank you
Crank the engine and see if the tach jump. If it doesn't then the rpm sensor is bad. If rpm sensor is good then most likely the timing reference sensor is bad or the reference pin was broken when you installed the transmission.
