Driver Door Handle & Cable Removal

There is a cable that connects the driver door handle to the opening mechanism. Does anyone have instructions on how to change this cable? I have removed the door panel and disconnected the cable on top and bottom (it's a fairly short 7 inch +/- cable) but can't get it out of the slot that holds it in place. Apparently you have to remove the lock and possibly the handle to remove the cable. I have spent a lot of time working on it. - Help.

You will have to remove the door latch to service this properly.
The cable clips into the latch in a way that it is easiest to do with it out of vehicle.

Does anyone know if the service manual describes how to remove the door handle, the door panel, etc. to do this repair? Thks. T.
