2004 Phaeton V8 trunk issue ?

My trunk has been stuck and I have not been able to open it with neither the trunk lid release switch ( driver's door )nor with Emergency lock cylinder or the trunk VW exterior emblem.
Nothing worked.
when I looked at the outside trunk edge I noticed something unusual: the left side was slighly inclined down than the right side.
The instrument cluster display panel reads that the trunk is open but in fact is not.
I have tried to gain access to the trunk through the rear seat center console.(Ski rack mesh)
Hard enough to reach but somehow I manage to wiggle the emergency trunk latch up and down and still nothing.
The trunk was stuck.
Can anyone help me see the light ?
Is it possible that the hydraulic mechanism is out os sync?
could they have broken the cylinder lock or destroyed the motor ?

I would love to know the fix. Les Scwabb tire store replaced my tires and changed the spare. When I got the car back I could not get in the trunk. Been about a year now, no trunk access, no idea how to get back in again...

Bbcr and Phaeton Puzzle - hi, I've had similar issues in the past with my trunk. When you attempt to open the trunk using either the key fob or the button on the driver's door, do you notice the trunk lid attempt to open? If so, your problem is like mine. What you can do is attempt to open the lid, and as the mechanism is cycling and trying to work, grip the bottom of the trunk lid lip near the back bumper and pull up. That should allow the trunk lid to start opening...it won't open all the way. You then need to "reset" the mechanism by pushing the trunk lid all the way open and gently force it a tiny bit (inch or so) farther. Then, use the button on the trunk lid to close the trunk lid. If it doesn't go all the way shut, use the key fob or driver's door button to open it and again help the lid go all the way open. My salesman told me what happens is people who don't realize the car has a power trunk lid will push the lid closed, and that "confuses" the mechanism. He caught me doing it when I was first looking at the car before I bought it...the mechanics at your dealership should also be able to explain this problem and solution. Please let me know if it helps any. Regards! Jim D/Vienna, VA/2004 Phaeton V8
