I have a 1987 Quantum wagon synchro w/ 5 cyl, manual trans. It ran great until it sat for a month...battery is charged, it turns over fine, but will not start. I removed a plug and smell gas..also, there is a spark at the plug. I had this problem with an 83 bus...turned out to be a bad idle stabilizer. On this model, however, there appears to be a different idle stabilizer than the one in my bently manual. There are no two plugs to connect together to test if the stabilizer is bad..only one plug into a sort of oval shaped stabilizer (located next to the wiper motor and hall sensor) as opposed to the usual square one with two plugs. Is there a simple way to test if this one is bad? any other ideas? yes, there is gas in the car!
