Hi all having problems with a 2.0TDI very intermittently the car will loose power and go into limp home mode by turning the ignition off and re-starting the vehicle boost pressure is ok. The only faults stored are 18000 boost pressure implausible signal and G70 Range performance fault sporadic faults. The boost pressure sensor has been changed fault still occurs, any body have any ideas.

Isn't this problem under some sort of warranty from the dealer? Seems like the car isn't getting the boost it needs maybe the bypass valve or wastegate is not functioning properly, is the turbo spooling up at all? I mean there's a lot of things to check...codes are misleading and don't point nessecarily to a sensor at fault.

Yes it is under warranty but the dealer is struggling to find the cause of the problem the turbo has been inspected and is mechanically ok and working once this fault is cleared everything is ok intermittent fault.

well gee if the dealer has the car, and they can't solve it the lot of them put together. I doubt anyone on here is gonna be able to solve it without even seeing the car. Plus since it's a new model, I doubt anyone has any info on it, unless someone else is having this problem. At which point I think VWOA would become aware of it and issue a bulletin that would make the repair documented.

New cars always have some bugs, especially first year of a new platform. When the beat meets the street it's a whole new ballgame.

hi i am a vw master tech from uk we have had several problems like this and in all cases it was a faulty turbo the variable vains inside stick and cause intermittent overboost when ignition turned off and back on it resets turbo control until overboost occurs again hope this helps.

I agree with ukvwmech - the variable vane turbos carbon up internally and cease to adjust (turbo pressure is controlled by vacuum line and turbo vane adjustment). If they partially seize then the turbo will likely overboost causing the ECU to immediatly cut power and put you into limp home mode. Turning the ignition off and then restarting resets the system until the next boost overload. The turbo can be stripped and cleaned - we have done several of these, all succesfully repaired.

P.S. You can monitor the turbo pressures on the open road with a laptop and VAG-COM or similar . . . .

Oh, buy a Bentley manual as well.

Can you tell me if it's okay to use E85 fuel in my 2006 Passat?

Hi there, I have this problem with my 2006 Passat 1.9 tdi, namely the turbocharges boost pressure sensor fault code is constantly coming up. When it comes up the power goes down and after one or several re-ignitions it gets into normal but the led in the panel does not go off. We cleaned the turbine, we changed the sensor, but the problem still exists. Could it still be the turbine, or maybe something else such as electrics or anything else. I am really getting nervous with it!
