I have a 2001 TT coupe, I am getting
an indication on the instrument panel that the door
is still open when it is shut, this is also
confirmed with the window not closing/sealing (when the door is closed)
can anybody confirm that this may be due to a faulty
sensor in the door lock and if so does the complete unit need to be replaced to fix this problem ?

I have the same problem with an Audi TT 2001 Roadster. My intentions are to remove the door panel and either:
1) By-pass the alarm so it can never happen again,
2) Glue or tape it open or shut to "fix" the problem forever,
3) If '1' or '2' are not possible, then replace the alarm.
My problem now is I don't know how to get the door panel off, eg., what screws do you loosen or what panel do you start prying on without damaging anything.

Hey, Dutt, sounds like the door lock sensor - this is easily checked electrically. It will probably mean a door lock assembly as there is no separate listing for the sensor. But! Check the wiring in the bendy bit between the door and door post. Pull the bellows and look for a broken wire before you do anything else.
