My 320 is overheating. I have tracked it to the theomstat.I am told to renew it I must buy the complete theomstat and housing as one piece. Is there an alternative part or method to the oringinal setup? The car is used on the road and track.
-new thermostat defect or damaged
-radiator internally partially blocked (deposits)
-air passage externally (through the radiator) blocked
-coolant passages blocked in engine (corrosion - due to use of pure H2O instead of coolant)
-missing fan shroud (problem with high ambient-Temp and idle - vehicle stopped)
-defect water pump (cavitation)
-defect cyl-head (cracked or uneven due to previous overheating)
-air trapped in cooling system
-defect fan clutch
The 320I bmw thermostat can be replaced,You do not have to replace the housing. One thing to remember is to drill a small hole in the top position if the one you get did not have one. Thats to help the system bleed air out better.Cheers
It's a nice article. I really like this article. From this article, we get a lot of information about BMW E21 3 Series Over Heating. http://www.trinitykochireview.com/list-of-top-builders-kochi/ The author describes some solution for this issue. The way of writing is also really nice so that we can easily follow the information.
