Hi, I'm wondering if one of you here could have a clue as to what's wrong with my car. It is an a4 2001 1.8TQ with 68,500km. The problem is it nerver starts the first time when cold, but at the second crank it goes perfectly. It is really anoying. Took it to the dealer yesterday, they saw the problem, hooked the car to the computer, no fault, replaced the air filter.
They checked the fuel pump and line for fuel leak or pressure loss, nothing. Any tech. ideas is welcome.

When I say cold , I mean at rest for more than 6 hours.
Thanks

Couple things:
1) Run a throttle adaptation, may help may not but it takes 15 seconds.
2) Possible bad coolant temp sensor. The old one is black; revised one is green. If you have a black one; just replace it...cost about $5.
3) If you're plugs are original look at replacing those too.

Excellent suggestion, I'm due for an oil change in mid-august, and I'll bring every possible tip I can along at the dealer.

Just added injector cleaner in the fuel tank , just a thought.

While talking to my tech. at audi he game the two part number.

059919501-A Coolant temp. sensor
N90316802 Seal that goes with it.

Now my last question is , how do I go about changing that part myself? Can I reach it easily, location, do I need special tool, or do I pay 90$/hr at the dealer so they replace it? in 1.0 hr + tax for a 5$ part :-(

Many thanks.

Thanks for the advice, I reseated the connection and it started just like it should!!!!!
The next time it does it, I'll replace the part.

Thanks again.

Yep, easy to do. I'd order it now so it's ready when you need it. Enjoy your car!
