Was this the same manual which is now for sale on CD-ROM here at Bentley Publishing?

Not a bad price, either!

The CD Rom Repair manual is the same as the paper version that was offered by one of the users on this forum. The CD is produced by BMW.

Same as the paper one? Great news!

I've ordered mine already--just patiently awaiting its arrival... OK, to be honest--maybe NOT so patiently!

I ordered it Friday, and it's not overdue or anything--I'm just eager to start fixin' my '79 633 CSi.

Thanks for the clarification!

Hee Hee! Nice grimy CD-ROM! No, I really don't want it to match my hands!

I'm probably gonna take the thing to Kinko's or something and get paper copies of pages I need. Whatever's most broke will get printed first, and so-on down the line... I'd burn thru a helluva lot of inkjet cartridges otherwise. From what I've seen here, it's a lot of pages.

Yes, portability certainly is an issue. I do prefer paper, and no, I do not own a laptop.

Speaking of laptops-- OK, I know this isn't really a BMW thing-- but if you're loaded enough to afford one, or even if you're just curious, check this link out:

http://www.gobookmax.com/gobookmax/demo.asp

Assuming you had a peek, wouldn't that be perfect to keep my E24 manual on? It's a mechanic's dream come true! You could take it right out to the car, set it up on the fender--even if it's raining... Anybody want to buy me one?

I work for the US Military, and was tasked to find the most rugged laptops I could. That's how I came across the Itronix GoBook MAX. My unit bought a bunch of 'em to use in some pretty rough places, and they do work as advertized...

Well, the manual is pretty good. Good content, good format...

But there is one problem:

If your computer has more than 1GB of RAM, the program will not open.

Instead you'll get the following error message:

Run-Time Error: '2004':

Out of memory.

Seems kinda weird that lots of RAM = Out of memory, but whatever!

I had to remove one of my 512MB DIMMs to get the program to open.

The program uses an older version of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications which seems to be prone to this problem.

Microsoft has no effective patch for this problem either.

I'm still seeking advice, patches, fixes, etc. so if you've got one, I'd be happy to hear from you!

Thought I'd pass this along!

greetings all!!

tklop,
i don't know if this is against the board rules, but, is there any chance of you burning a copy of that CD and mailing it to me?

also, a mechanic recently mentioned something about "the big six". anyone have any information on this? what sort of resources do they provide? website?

thanks,
imind

I own a 1988 635 CSi and would like to purchase a repair or service manual. Do you have one for sale or could you steer me in the right direction please?
