Fine tune window regulator with tightened screws?

Hi,
I obviously don't know what I'm doing so I wanted to ask :-)

On my car, I have 3 screws that hold the window secured onto/into the regulator cursors (metal things on the window regulator slides).

I tightened those screws down and then I used the star wrench to manually fine tune the height (front and rear) of the window to make sure it was the proper measurements - is that right?

In my mind, I was thinking that if the screws on the cursor were not tight then my fine adjustments made by the star wrench wouldn't have worked.

Reason why I ask is my window rolls up and down slow. I don't remember if it did before... :-/

Thanks,
David
