Round openings on the flaps indicates that the foam has separated
from the flaps... resulting in air passing through the flaps
rather than being "re-directed" (to get warmed by the heater
core).

KINDA WHAT I THOUGHT,I'M GOING TO BLOCK THEM WITH THIN SHEET ALUMINUM(I THINK I WOULD HAVE TO BUY THE WHOLE BOX AS THE FLAPS ARE NOT AVAILABLE SEPARATELY) AND RE-ASSEMBLE,I'LL LET YOU KNOW HOW IT WORKS OUT. THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY.

A quick & simple fix is to apply Duct Tape on the flaps. The
holes allow the duct tape from both sides to touch, resulting
in a good seal.

The edges of the flaps may be a bit trickier, since you would
need a thicker sealing surface... but plugging the holes, will
increase heat efficiency enough to notice it once again.

Thanks FKH161,for your replies, because this is my wives car and I plan on keeping for awhile I did the sheet tin method. The heat works great now.I appreciate your input, since this is a big job,and I didn't want to do it over,a little reassurance was very helpful.Again, Thanks.

A sample of the duct tape fix is attached... don't know how
long it lasts, will post back once I find out! ;-)

Pictures are from A2 heaterbox.

My cabriolet has not heat and the air conditioning worked. Rebuilt the head and now no air. Can both problems be the air box?
