I have a 2003 Eurovan MV. Driver's window functions normally most of the time, but will suddenly stop responding to up/down controls after anywhere from 5-30 minutes driving. If I open and close the door, the problem usually disappears, and then I can operate the window again. When it does work it doesn't seem to be having difficulty. The motor is strong and the window goes up and down quickly.

I pulled the control unit out of the door and checked the connections on the back and they appear strong.

Could this be a bad regulator? Or something else? Anyone have this problem before?

This is a very common problem and is caused by one or more broken wires in the wiring harness between the fuse box and the various power users in the driver's door (e.g., window, mirror, mirror heater, etc.). The cause of the wire(s) breaking is likely a plastic wire tie under the driver's side dashboard that holds the wiring harness such that each opening/closing of the door results in the wiring bending at acute angles rather than stroking in and out. The remedy is to remove the wiring harness, check for wire continuity (when doing continuity check, bend and pull the wires as would occur when the door is opened/closed), and then repair each faulty wire OR just replace the harness. 1stvwparts.com had the replacement harness for a reasonable cost.
