I'm planning to do a timing belt this weekend on my 2001, MK3.5, 2.0L, Cabrio. Yesterday I had a quick look to check out the timing marks and found the TDC mark on the flywheel is a line rather than the expected "0". I pulled #1 sparkplug and used a thin wooden stick confirmed it is TDC.
Any idea why?
The more I work on this car getting it back into shape the more I find bodge ups from previous work, so it wouldn't surprise me someone's installed the wrong flywheel or worse!!
