I have a 1999/2000 Mk4 2.0 Jetta. I have the Bentley a4 repair manual and followed the instructions to replace my valve cover gasket and in the process replaced a few coolant hoses. I am a bit unsure on how to attached the hoses back up to the engine and throttle body. I've searched threads on tech support here as well as on vortex yet either the engine was different or I couldn't see the back of the engine.
Before this I had 3 warning lights: I believe all separate:
1) ABS: Waiting on a friend who has a Ross tech for code
2) Airbag: Waiting on a friend who has a Ross tech for code
3) Check Engine - Autozone ran diagnostic code P1473
What I did:
I checked the rear EVAP system for leaks and checked EVAP canister and all were running properly. I then changed the purge valve and tested the new one with a battery. Air was able to be blown through it when an electric current was present. I used a 9v to perform test on new and old. Both were fine. I then started to check the hoses and noticed the upper connection hose or the plastic tube that runs under the upper exhaust manifold was cracked in half. I also noticed the plastic return that runs from the back of the engine to the brake booster was cracked. Finally, I noticed on inspection an oil leak in the V.C.G as well. Replaced everything needed and I just need some help with putting her back together. Duh... I'm pretty sure how it goes but not 100%.
Besides these minor problems which are my doing.. I'm sure. she's running strong at 170K with no major problems.
Please let me know if you need pics or any other info from me.
