Hello, I have an 01 1.8l Jetta GL. About 2 months ago I replaced the water pump that was leaking. (before we blame that though ya'll should know I marked the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets to make sure the timing didn't get messed up) After I did that I started getting code P1128 sporadically (about once a week) and the car would go into 'limp' mode with the ECP light on and no response from the gas pedal until it warmed up to at least 160 degrees F then it would run just fine. I took it into our local import mechanic 3 times now at 200 an hour and all he could tell me to do was replace the MAF sensor each time along with doing a throttle body alignment each time. Flash forward to this week when I got fed up with it and tore back into it. I replaced the entire vacuum hose assembly for the oil pump breather valve/suction pump/and all the misc lines running from the air intake manifold.(what a nightmare!) Its been nearly 6 days since I've done this and it hasn't entered into 'limp' mode again, but I'm still getting code P1128 along with P1136 and one for the camshaft sensor which I can't remember off the top of my head. The car has a high and rough idle, about 1200 RPM then it drops back down to the 700-800 RPM range, until it warms up. Any ideas? Maybe I bumbed a sensor or didn't get the torque specs right for the air intake? I'm a fairly competent backyard mechanic so as long as someone can explain it layman's terms rather than VW mechanic talk I'm positive I can figure it out.
