My vehicle is the 1993 Eurovan MV weekender Westfalia poptop. I want to install a flip down monitor in the front of the pop-up roof next to the pull down handle. I would like to remove the plywood like material (covered in a grey vinyl) under the fiberglass roof so that I can install the flip-down TV and DVd without drilling through the roof. But there is no information in the forums or on bentley dvd whether the roof is a single piece where the fiberglass is fused to the plywood or 2-piece where the plywood can be separated. Obviously the handles, the pop-up gas struts, brackets etc. are bolted to the plywood and not "through" the fiberglass, so I want to do the same.
The bentley DVD shows how to remove the canvas by removing the edge trim below the top-side of the roof, but no info on whether that would achieve my goal. I dont' want to do that if it does not help my goal.
How to separate the plywood from fiberglass so I can install the flipdown DVD with a screw+bolt instead of just a wood screw
If the above is not possible, any other suggestions on how to do a strong install without puncturing the actual fiberglass roof
