I have a 2002 VW Bora vr6 lower radiator hose that keeps blowing off the radiator after driving it for awhile. I was told that it is the thermostat going bad.??? If it is how do I locate the thermostat on this car? Help!

Thermostat is located in the big coolant flange on the side of the engine and looks like this:

Here's a DIY from vwvortex:

The flange connects to a plastic pipe (crack pipe) that can break with age... it's a good idea to replace it at the same time. If it is still in good shape, then just replace the o-ring that is used to seal it to the thermostat flange.

If you have problems finding it on your engine... post a picture and I will circle the area to look at.

BTW, hoses shouldn't just pop off... even when an engine is overheating.

You might have problem with the connector not holding correctly (clip, o-ring seal, housing etc).

Is the engine actually overheating?

Did you find it?

The more room the better... remove the battery & plastic covers, top engine covers (plastic) and the coil pack if it is a 12v engine).

Red circle is the thermostat cover... lower rad hose attaches to it.
