I have an '87 Vanagon with a Gowesty rebuilt engine. When cold the engine starts with a sudden loud bang, knock or whump. It almost sounds like a part of the engine hits the frame, though this seems impossible. Can a stuck injector cause this problem.
I believe stress creative by this sudden jerk of a start is what has made my water pump begin to fail with a grinding noise.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice is welcome
