The manual implies the AC Compressor can be detached from the engine and lowered out of the way for engine removal. This is suggested so the Freon pipes do not have to be disconnect and the system compromised.
I do not see how this can be done. The rear coolant pipe rubberized flange block access to the top hex socket bolt and the mount cannot the removed because the compressor housing blocks access to the top rear hex bolt.
The manual does not mention a special BMW tool to access the hex socket bolt.
Please clarify if I am in error or if the Bentley is in error. The car is a 1995 318Ti with the M42 engine.
I have already submitted a post stating the AC Compressor mounting pictures and instructions may be in error. Both errors may be that the Bentley is describing an AC Compressor on an M50 engined E36 or that the Ti is different than the other M42/M44 engined E36.
