Hi, My New Beetle has Power Steering and has developed excessive "free play" somewhere in the linkage or steering gear box. Both outer "tie rod ends" have been checked and checked again, but, they are not excessively worn.

So, the problem probably lies in the Power Steering Bearbox.

My questions are:

1. Does my VW Power Steering Box have an "adjustment" that controls the separation between the "rack" and "pinion" gears to control "free play" ?

2. If Yes, where is this adjustment located ?

3. And, what are the procedures for making this adjustment ?

Thank you
