Electrical gremlins! Had dead battery, jumped no problem. Took key out but the engine & all electronics remained on. Had to pull fuse to stop. Replaced ignition switch, no change. Performed test to isolate circuits remaining on. Pulling either fuse for the central locking system stopped engine & shutdown electronics (radio, dash display, interior lights, etc). Replacing fuse with key out, all circuits turned back on. Pulled codes with VCDS, numerous faults on many modules, central locking had many intermittent ground faults. Cleared codes, problem remained. Researched & found that the central locking module has been known to fail. Ordered surplus unit & installed, same problem exists with new module.
I will look through the Bently manual and track anything associated with the central locking system, but if anyone has suggestions, they will be greatly appreciated. Thinking that a relay external to the central locking module is stuck on??? Curious what interconnects are present between the locking module & the main power (ignition "run" position circuits).
